Hi! I'm Kelly, the founder of Little Pink Box Bakery!

I can never remember a time when being in the kitchen didn't make me happy. Both of my grandmothers taught me ways to make everything from biscuits to pies, cobblers to cookies from scratch using my hand to knead dough and create the perfect treat.

I was always volunteered to bring dessert to any event from bake sales to picnics and family/friends gatherings. Each specifically asking for their favorite treat: cookies, cupcakes, brownies and rice Krispy treats, cheesecakes, pies and cobblers.

Over the years while being influenced by not only family but some of my favorite chefs I have bettered my baking knowledge expanding far past southern influenced treats and branching into the french techniques that begin all great desserts. Each day thinking about new flavor combinations and never being afraid to fail, because each failure is a learning experience to do better and succeed.

Who gives you inspiration?

My favorite chefs from a young age were: Martha Stewart, Ina Garten and Alton Brown. Martha because she always used the most interesting ingredients to elevate her recipes. Ina because she explained why certain ingredients were better than others. and finally Alton who explained the science behind baking and cooking.

What is your food philospohy?

Scratchmade is the best thing way to eat. With our food having less and less nutrition and our families being busier and busier, we have less time to make things from scratch.

I prefer scratchmade because it lacks preservatives, dyes, excess sugar and I can be in charge of the flavor profiles. I use the best ingredients to create something unique. My foods are flavorful, not just full of sugar like your run of the mill grocery store baked goods. Real food has weight.

Who taught you how to bake?

My grandmothers were both big into scratchmade meals throughout my entire life. My grandmother Irene would always make us what she called biscuit cobbler with  fresh berries from her garden with stove cooked dumplings and fresh made whipped cream. My grandmother Dorothy came from a big family and made every single thing from scratch from biscuits to cookies to breads. Both teaching me the simple techniques to make the most delicious dishes and begin my family cookbooks.

What is your favorite flavors?

As many times as I am asked this, I still never have an answer to this question. I use this to my advantage to create a bevy of goodies with different flavors. I prefer to hear from my customers to tell me what they like and keep baking the best goodies constantly offering a variety customers can choose from.
